one of the things I see passed over most often in fic is Bruce’s past as an abused, unwanted kid whose father both hated him and killed his mother. sometimes I think the hulk is a sort of protective force, a best-defense-is-offense sort of thing.

“Mother said he was quite right to make me swear, and that it was a sign of his passion.” -Arthur Conan Doyle, Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, Advendture 3- A Case of Identity“It smelled of stale air and shoe leather and my grandfather’s slightly sour cologne.”

“I wondered if he would remember how impressed he was with my awesome tryout twelve months earlier and invite me out for a beer after class to exchange stories of the road.”
I guess this means I’m becoming a professional hooker. Thanks, Jericho.

Not reassuring.
“Can you do it right now, call me right back?”
Well, fuck. That sounds great.
“Men wanted more from her than just to be her friend or companion, as if she were another man; charmed by her empathy for male psychology, they fell in love with her.”

The reflection in dark water: tutorialsforartists: Golgothassterror: art postI just went back...
I just went back through over 900 liked posts and dug out all the art tutorials so i can keep track of them. I guess this might be helpful to some of you guys, so here you go.
Here we go then!
Freeware
Alchemy - this is a really fun program. You play around making abstract shapes until you start to see something in them, kind of like a Rorschach test. Then you use the shapes as a base to draw it from.
MyPaint - a pretty decent painting program that also has the benefit of working on Unix systems.
openCanvas 1.1 - I haven’t used openCanvas in years but it was a nice program with a pretty unique feel to it.
ArtRage - Only used this a couple of times donkey’s years ago just before I got oC, but I’ve heard good things about it.
The GIMP - In a similar vein to Photoshop, but free. I couldn’t get on with it when I tried it out a few years ago, but it’s pretty popular and is available on Unix systems and Macs.Sketchbook copic: a bit different program
Not-free-ware
Photoshop - Standard painting fare. Probably the most flexible program (particularly the latest versions) but not designed to act in a “natural” way. If you’ve used it for painting versus something like Painter you know what I mean. Who the fuck pays for it though? Google “Photoshop tumblr masterpost” and take your pick.
Paint Tool Sai - Far more affordable and definitely worth paying for if you can. The brushes are very decent (especially when they’ve been tweaked a little), the gui is simple and intuitive, and I dare you to find a program with which making smooth lineart is easier.
Corel Painter - My program of choice for most things. More tools than you could ever possibly use and pretty cheap on a student license, providing that you can prove you’re a student! It’s got a few bugs but if you want realism or a more natural feel than PS or SAI this is the program for you.Anatomy

On a far less rage-quit note:
Saw Avengers again! Still super good. I like noticing the things I didn’t notice last time.
If I could somehow camp out in the theatre and just repeatedly watch Avengers? That would be perfect…..
sometimes daunting: Downloading comics.
I started out with comics by downloading them. I read the entirety of what was available to me in less than a month. And the stories I liked? I went out and bought what I could find and what I could afford. On the other hand, to say that those working in the industry are lazy? It’s insulting to those of us trying to break into the industry. We work our asses off. When I see art that could be better? I work to make myself better than that person, so one day I can get that job. When somebody breaks into the industry, it’s not because they’ve been sitting on their ass, waiting for a position to fall into their lap. They get a job either because they were really fucking good, they have a fresh perspective on what a comic can be, and they worked their balls off to get there. I go to a school that has a major in comics, we’re the only school that does what we do in respect to comics. We have an editor’s day every year where people from all aspects of the industry come in and tell us what they expect from us. “We want different new and fresh.” “We want artist that work their asses off.” “We want artist who can meet their deadlines, and produce great work while doing it.” The best advice I ever got from an editor, was from Dan Vado at Slave Labor, who’s a bit of a Debbie Downer about the state of the comics industry, yes, but his advice it sound. “Work hard, don’t suck.” I think every artist needs to have that plastered somewhere they can see it everyday, if they ever want to get anywhere. So yeah, you may have some problems with current working artists, but I guarantee you, the WORK part of that definitely applies. Please don’t do it. Its so frustrating to see so many posts with links to scanned comics. Its great to share parts of comics but sharing entire story arcs is not cool. You can buy those as trades, guys.
Please support the comic industry. :(
I…
Sad day.
My iPad fell out of my bag, and it shattered the screen on the exact and only unprotected corner of the screen. Sent it off to apple, hopefully they send it before we move.
BUT SO SAD. IT WAS LIKE A THIRD LIMB…
